Ohio Third Frontier

The Ohio Third Frontier represents an unprecedented and bipartisan commitment to expand Ohio’s technological strengths and promote commercialization that leads to economic prosperity throughout Ohio. Designed to build world-class research programs, nurture early-stage companies, and foster technology development that makes existing industries more productive, Ohio Third Frontier creates opportunity through innovation.

The Challenge

Funding for the Ohio Third Frontier was set to dry up unless voters approved Issue 1 to continue the program through 2015 and enable the state to raise $700 million through bond sales. They need one final push to get voters to the polls during a weak primary vote.

The Solution

Working with Seven/Seventy-Nine Productions, we took footage shot during the Secret Cincinnati launch weekend and edited it together with a kinetic script to create a compelling 2 minute video to show voters at Issue 1 rallies. The video was edited down to a :60 commercial and ran statewide the weekend before the vote.

As a result Ohioans voted overwhelmingly (62%) to approve the measure.

What I Did

I concepted the spot and wrote the script.
