Fine Arts Fund

Founded over 80 years ago as the Cincinnati Institute of Fine Arts, the Fine Arts Fund is the oldest and largest United Arts Fund in the country—serving to strengthen the arts in the region through united fundraising, support services, and the responsible investment and allocation of resources.

The Challenge

After a record year (the 2007 campaign raised $11.7 million), the Fine Arts Fund wanted to keep the momentum and was looking for new ways to market the campaign. After hearing feedback that the previous year’s materials were beautiful but too serious, the Fund approached the Creative Department looking for a whimsical approach that could reach a broader group of individuals in the workplace.

The Solution

We created a marketing campaign around the message: “Support the Arts.” Print materials and the website featured average people
holding up arts icons, like a helmet-clad opera singer or an actor portraying Hamlet.

The campaign helped push funds raised in 2008 over the $12 million mark.

What I Did

I was responsible for concepting the Support the Arts campaign, concepting the site’s functionality and user experience, and writing all site messaging and content.
